Metrovalencia tickets and cards

Which ticket to buy, what it costs and which card it goes on. ATMV fares in force since 1 July 2025, with the temporary fare reduction valid until 31 December 2026.

How the system works

In València you need to tell apart two things that are bought separately: the ticket (the journey or the pass) and the card (the contactless card it is stored on). The ticket does not include the price of the card.

And there are two families of tickets. Metrovalencia’s own —the Sencillo, the TuiN stored-value card, the Gent Major and the Mobilitat— are valid only on the FGV metro and tram. The ATMV integrated tickets —the SUMA family and the Mobilis— are also valid on the EMT city buses, MetroBus, Renfe Cercanías and the urban transport of Paterna and Sagunto. If you are only going to use the metro, Metrovalencia’s own tickets usually work out cheaper; if you are going to combine it with the bus, a SUMA pays off.

The price depends on the zones you cross. On Metrovalencia there are only zone A, zone B, the overlap between the two and the airport’s “+” area; zone C belongs to MetroBus and zone D to Renfe. Each station’s zone is on its page, and the full layout on the map.

The Sencillo (single) ticket

TicketPrice
Sencillo · 1 zone (A or B)€1.50
Sencillo · A and B€2.80
Sencillo · 1 zone including the airport (B+)€3.50
Sencillo · A and B including the airport (AB+)€4.80

One journey within the zones it is valid for, on the Metrovalencia network only; up to four fit on one card. Pensioners and people over 65 with the personalised pensioner card pay 50 % less, with a floor of the one-zone Sencillo fare (€1.50).

The Sencillo does not get the 40 % temporary fare reduction: it is not listed in the annex of the decree that approves it, so it costs the same in the base-fare table and in the reduced-fare table. That is the main reason not to travel on Sencillos if you are going to make more than two or three journeys.

TuiN, the Metrovalencia stored-value card

JourneyDeducted from the balance
TuiN · 1 zone (A or B)€0.80
TuiN · A and B€1.20
TuiN · 1 zone including the airport (B+)€1.60
TuiN · A and B including the airport (AB+)€2.00

The TuiN is a stored-value card for the whole metro and tram network. You validate it on entry and on exit (on the tram, on entry only), and it works for one person or for up to sixty travelling together. The minimum top-up is €5.

The 40 % temporary fare reduction is applied not to the fare but to the balance: for every €1.00 you load, the card receives €1.6666 of credit, while the amounts in the table stay the same. In practice a one-zone journey comes to about €0.48.

There is also a monthly free-travel threshold: once you have spent €35.00 in one zone (or €53.00 in two) within the calendar month, you travel free in those zones for the rest of the month. This requires the TuiN on a personalised card. The TuiN Jove, for under-31s, takes a further 15 % off when you buy.

TuiN and TuiN Jove cards must be registered online first and collected at the Espais (customer offices) at Xàtiva, Colón, Benimaclet or Alacant.

The SUMA family

TicketBase fareWith temporary reduction
SUMA 10 · 1 zone (A, B or C)€9.00€5.40
SUMA 10 · 2 zones (AB, B+, BC)€12.50€7.50
SUMA 10 · 2 zones including the airport (AB+)€21.00€12.60
SUMA Mensual · 1 zone€35.00€21.00
SUMA Mensual · 2 zones (AB+)€53.00€31.80
Mobilis 30 / SUMA Mensual Jove · 1 zone€29.75€14.90
Mobilis 30 / SUMA Mensual Jove · 2 zones€45.05€22.50

The SUMA 10 is a ten-journey ticket, which can be topped up ten journeys at a time up to thirty, valid on Metrovalencia, EMT (the city buses), MetroBus, Renfe Cercanías and the urban transport of Paterna and Sagunto. Each journey includes one change in one direction, within 90, 110, 130 or 140 minutes depending on whether it covers 1, 2, 3 or 4 zones. Up to fifteen people travelling together can use it at the same time.

The SUMA Mensual gives unlimited travel for 30 days from the first validation; it is personal and non-transferable and needs a personalised card. The Mobilis 30 is the same pass for under-31s with the Carnet Jove youth card, 15 % cheaper to start with and with a temporary reduction of 50 % instead of 40 %.

For visitors there are the SUMA T1, T2 and T3: unlimited travel for 24, 48 or 72 hours, at €4.50, €7.50 and €11.00 for zones A and B, or €9.00, €14.00 and €17.00 if you include the airport. These do not get the temporary fare reduction either.

The card: what it costs

CardPrice
Personalised card (ATMV or Metrovalencia)€4.40
Anonymous plastic card (PVC)€2.20
Anonymous cardboard card€1.10
Personalised card for pensioners or over-65s€2.20
Reactivation of a specific personalised card€2.20
Home delivery of a personalised card€1.00

The TSC (contactless card) is reusable: you can top up the same ticket on it or load a different one. The price of a ticket does not include the card, and the temporary fare reduction does not apply to cards or delivery charges: the decree says so explicitly.

The cardboard card is the cheap option for a short visit; the PVC one lasts longer. Personal passes (SUMA Mensual, Mobilis 30, Gent Major, Mobilitat, Mobilis14) can only be loaded on a personalised card, which you have to apply for.

Expiry: PVC cards expire after five years and cardboard ones after three. After that they can no longer be loaded or topped up, although you can keep using them until the ticket on them runs out.

The airport and the "+" area

In València there is no separate airport supplement ticket as in other cities: instead there is a fare area called “+” that contains a single station, Aeroport (lines 3 and 5). Any zone combination that includes it carries the “+” suffix and has its own price.

On a Sencillo the difference is €2.00: €3.50 instead of €1.50 in one zone, and €4.80 instead of €2.80 between A and B. The nearby stations ManisesES, RosesES and Salt de l’AiguaES lie outside the “+” area, in the A-B overlap, so getting off at one of them avoids the surcharge.

If you lose it, it breaks or you travel without a ticket

Loss or theft of a personalised Mobilis30 card: you request a new one on the ATMV website, and the old one is cancelled automatically when the new one is issued. A faulty card issued less than a year ago and in good condition is exchanged at the ATMV offices at Colón station. The ATMV publishes no fee for a replacement; the only figure on record is for reactivating specific personalised cards, €2.20. We give no figure that has not been published.

Travelling without a valid ticket costs €100.00 as a “regularisation ticket” (penalty fare), payable on top of the appropriate fare.

Maximum journey time: on the Metrovalencia network it is 90 minutes for one-zone combinations and 150 for the rest, from validation. Do not confuse it with the SUMA 10 window for changing between operators, which is 90, 110, 130 or 140 minutes depending on the zones covered: they are two different things, and the operator and the transport authority publish them separately.

Frequently asked questions

€1.50 within one zone and €2.80 if you cross from A to B. If the journey involves Aeroport station, €3.50 or €4.80. These are the fares in force since 1 July 2025.
If you only use the metro and tram, the TuiN: with the reduction applied to the balance, a one-zone journey comes to about €0.48, against €0.54 per journey on a reduced-fare SUMA 10. The SUMA 10 wins if you combine with the EMT city buses or with Cercanías, because it includes the change between operators.
Yes. The card costs €1.10 in cardboard, €2.20 in anonymous plastic and €4.40 if personalised, and that amount is not included in the ticket price. The temporary fare reduction does not apply to cards either.
Until 31 December 2026. The reduction is 40 % (20 % from the Spanish state under Royal Decree-law 17/2025 plus another 20 % from the Generalitat, the regional government) and it was extended by Decree-law 6/2026. Tickets bought at the reduced fare can be used until 31 January 2027. It does not apply to the Sencillo, to the SUMA T passes or to combinations with Renfe’s zone D.
Children under 10 travel free on Metrovalencia when accompanied by an adult with a valid ticket, up to two children per ticket. For ages 10 to 14 there is the Mobilis14, free until 31 December 2026; you only pay for the card.
TuiN and TuiN Jove cards are registered online and collected at the Espais (customer offices) at Xàtiva, Colón, Benimaclet or Alacant. SUMA tickets are handled by the ATMV. FGV publishes no definitive list of sales points, so we do not make one up: what you have just read is what can be verified.
