L7 is a metro line running 15.497 km between Torrent Avinguda, in the south-west, and Marítim, by the port, with 16 stations. Fifteen of them are shared with other lines; the only one of its own is Bailén, the interchange for Renfe Cercanías (commuter rail) services at Estació del Nord.

Between Jesús and Torrent it runs with L1, and on to Torrent Avinguda with L2; at Colón and Alameda it meets L3, L5 and L9, and from Aragó to Marítim it shares a tunnel with L5. In practice it is the diagonal that links the south-western suburbs with the sea without going through Àngel Guimerà.

History

The line dates from 2015, but its stations are older. Torrent Avinguda opened on 22 September 2004, an underground spur from the surface station at Torrent that brought the metro closer to the town centre. Bailén opened on 3 October 2005, on the branch that then linked L1 and L5 between Colón and Jesús. And Marítim came into service in April 2007, designed to connect the metro with the port tram.

On 6 March 2015, when the network was reorganised, the branch from Marítim to Torrent Avinguda was split off from L5 and became a line in its own right, number 7. Its route has not changed since. The 2024 floods stopped the line on 30 October; the section from Marítim to Sant Isidre reopened on 3 December, Sant Isidre to València Sud on 18 February 2025, and the last section, between València Sud, Paiporta and Torrent Avinguda, on 27 June 2025. That same summer, and again in summer 2026, the section between Aragó and Marítim closed for improvement works.

The service

The timetable includes 978 runs and only 52 turn back at Alameda, so almost every train covers the full route. In the morning rush hour, counted at Alameda, there are about 2.7 trains an hour in each direction, and about two at weekends. On its own, this line runs less often than the lines it shares tunnels with, and you notice that most at Bailén, which it shares with none. Some weekday services start or end at Machado, which is not a station on the line but a depot and extra-service movement. It is the metro line that starts latest in the morning.

The trains

The route alternates between tunnel and surface: it is underground from Marítim to Safranar, comes up to the surface between Sant Isidre and Torrent, and goes underground again to Torrent Avinguda. From Marítim to Alameda the tunnel is double-track and shared with L5; from there it runs alongside L3 and L9 until a few metres before Xàtiva, where it branches off towards Bailén through a tunnel with one track above the other. The full journey takes about 33 minutes.

Frequently asked questions

Bailén. The other fifteen are shared with L1, L2, L3, L5 or L9, so Bailén is the only place on the network served by L7 alone. It lies beneath the street of the same name and was designed as a link with the Renfe Cercanías services at Estació del Nord.

Because of the network reorganisation of 6 March 2015, which split up the branches of the old L5. The Marítim to Torrent Avinguda branch became L7 and the port tram became L8; L5 kept the route to the airport.

No, only on the south-western section. From Jesús to Torrent the two run together, and L2 does too as far as Torrent Avinguda. Beyond Jesús, heading towards the sea, L7 goes its own way via Bailén and Colón, where L1 does not run.

It has 16, from Torrent Avinguda to Marítim, and 15 of them are interchanges with another line.
It is a metro line. FGV says so on its own page of figures: of the ten Metrovalencia lines, six are metro (L1, L2, L3, L5, L7 and L9) and four are tram (L4, L6, L8 and L10). They share fares, the map and interchange stations, so for travelling it makes no difference; what changes is the vehicle and, on the tram, the fact that the route runs at street level.
From Monday to Thursday, between 05:56 and 23:09. On Saturday it runs from 06:18 to 02:27 and on Sunday from 06:59 to 22:49: on Friday and Saturday service carries on into the early hours. These are the earliest and latest times at any station on the line; each station page gives its own.
FGV publishes 15.497 km.
