Five lines stop at Àngel Guimerà, which makes it the metro station with the most lines in Spain. It does not manage that with a single platform level but with two independent ones: one underground level with two platforms for lines 1 and 2, and another, built later, with an island platform for lines 3, 5 and 9. The first opened on 8 October 1988, along with the other underground stations of lines 1 and 2; the second came with the extension to Av. del CidES on 16 September 1998.

This double layout has a curious effect on the statistics: it is one of four stations that the operator counts separately as two network facilities, because its two sets of platforms have different numbers. It stands where calle de Ángel Guimerá crosses the gran vía de Fernando el Católico, in Extramurs, and has five entrances: two on calle de Ángel Guimerá itself, one on calle Cuenca, one on Doctor Sanchis Sivera and the last in the middle of the boulevard.
