Canyamelar tram stop
Line 6 and Line 8 · Zone A · Poblats Marítims
Canyamelar stop
It opened on 27 September 2007 along with the rest of Line 6, under the name Mediterrani; it later took the name of the Cabanyal – Canyamelar neighbourhood, which it still bears. It is a surface stop with a platform on each side of the tracks, on calle de la Fuente Podrida, very close to the Doctor Lluch avenue.
This is where the beach loop closes. The tracks at the seaward end are not a there-and-back route but a one-way loop that trams always run in the same direction: they leave Canyamelar for Dr. Lluch and Cabanyal, carry on through La Cadena, Platja Malva-rosa and Platja les Arenes, and pass through Canyamelar again before heading back down towards the Grau. So from this stop you do not return the same way you came.

The one-way beach loop
Trams always run round this ring in the same direction and come back to where they started; there is no service in the opposite direction.
Cabanyal is served only in the direction Dr. Lluch → La Cadena. Platja Malva-rosa and Platja les Arenes only in the opposite direction, after leaving La Cadena. To get from Cabanyal to either of the two Platja stops you have to go all the way round the loop.

Frequently asked questions
Yes. It opened under that name in 2007 and later took the name of the neighbourhood. The change appears in unofficial chronologies and in OpenStreetMap, which still keeps Mediterrani as the old name; FGV does not publish a history of its stop names.
Yes, by staying on round the loop: the tram first calls at Dr. Lluch, Cabanyal and La Cadena, then at Platja Malva-rosa and Platja les Arenes, before returning to Canyamelar. What you cannot do is make the same journey the other way round, because the route only runs in one direction.
